Mood Check-in App

Mini design challenge, 3-hour prototype

Role: UX/UI Designer | Tools: Figma | Timeline: 3 hrs

A simple, two-screen app to help users quickly log their mood

Concept

I started by defining the goal: a lightweight check-in app that feels friendly, not clinical. The core actions were mood selection + optional note

Design

I explored layouts and visual tone in Figma, settling on a soft gradient and rounded buttons to emphasize approachability

Prototype

Using Figma’s prototyping tools, I created interactive states for selection, typing, and confirmation to simulate a real experience

Reflection

  1. Even simple apps need a sense of completion. Adding a confirmation screen gave users clear feedback and made the experience feel polished.

  2. Interaction states add clarity. Highlighting selected emojis and showing a typing state helped guide users smoothly and improved usability.

  3. Constraints sharpen focus. With only two screens and three hours, I focused on tone and simplicity — gradients, rounded elements, and emojis kept the design approachable.
